From Ajax Academy Dubai to Ajax in Amsterdam and the Netherlands youth national team, Vera Sweers’ journey shows what can happen when talent, development and opportunity come together.
Vera was part of the first generation of players at Ajax Academy Dubai, where she developed through the Ajax football philosophy, technical coaching and individual training.
Her progress was recognised by the team around her, and through Ajax Academy Dubai and Only4Stars ISEC, an opportunity was created for Vera to take the next step.
With the support of Only4Stars Co-Founder & CEO George Kazianis, Vera was connected with Ajax in Amsterdam and given the chance to train with the Ajax U16 Talent Team.
She took that opportunity.After training with the team, Vera earned her place at Ajax and became the first player to make the move from a football academy in the UAE into Ajax’s youth setup in Amsterdam.
Her development continued from there, eventually leading to appearances for the Netherlands youth national team.
More than a success story Vera’s journey represents what Ajax Academy Dubai is built around.Our goal is not simply to teach young players how to play football. It is to help them develop technically, understand the game, build confidence and be ready when the right opportunity comes.
